FAQ
-
How much does it cost?Translation, editing, localization and transcreation projects are priced according to the specifications of each project. If you need a rough estimate of how much a service may cost, please refer to the fees section or get in touch.
-
How many languages do you handle?I translate between English and Brazilian Portuguese, and have an extended network of trusted colleagues who work with other languages and specializations. If your project requires a different language combination or subject matter expertise, please get in touch and I will be happy to help you find the linguist you need.
-
How long does it take?If you have a short project, it may be turned around the next day. Deadlines are set to accommodate other ongoing projects and to ensure quality, but a rough estimate is two days for a 2,500-word translation project and four days for a 6,000-word project.
-
How do you work? After carefully analyzing your document and establishing how much time it will require, I draw up your personalized quote. After you approve the quote, I research terminology and most likely compile a glossary. After translation and an extensive revision process, the file is delivered to you and I remain available for one week should you need any corrections or have any questions about the translated text.
-
Is there a minimum charge?Yes, there is a minimum charge of USD50 for all jobs. Take a look at my fees.
-
What if I have a very urgent deadline?I usually have several projects underway, but may be able to accommodate your request. Please note that a rush charge is applied to orders that require same-day or next-day delivery, including weekend work.
-
Do you give discounts for high volumes?Translation is a highly specialized and customized service that requires precision, dedication, training and experience. These services are not commodities, so I am unable to offer discounts on the basis of volume alone, but can negotiate on other terms, such as extended deadlines.
-
Which file types do you accept?I accept all file formats. However, please note that there is a surcharge of 30% for PDF files. All desktop publishing services are outsourced to trusted partners.
-
What is your quality assurance process?I adhere to the EN-15038 European Quality Standard for Translation Services. I use a multi-step process to ensure quality. My self-revision process includes automatic quality checks to ensure consistent use of client-supplied (or researched) terminology, and manual checks that include bilingual and monolingual reviews on different media (for example, PDF or on paper). To guarantee print-ready translations, a second pair of eyes also reviews all documents.
-
How do you handle payment?I accept payment through bank transfer or PayPal, in £, €, USD and BRL. For first-time clients, 50% upfront payment is required before I start on your project. The remaining 50% are paid upon delivery.
